MY VISION:

This individual animated short video is trying to demonstrate what I have learned so far as a third-year SIAT student in SFU. The piece has challenged me in many different aspects. First, I need to be my own actress in this video as all my other friends were too busy to help. Second, I need to know how to set up the lighting properly in the green room without any help. Lastly, as a video editor, try to animate this video all by myself.

THE PROCESS:

Green Room Setup

The challenge that I had to face instantly when I came to the green room was to figure out which types of lighting kits to use and where to place those lightings so that a certain amount of light can be created without casting any unwanted shadow.
Before and After
After Effects

In the raw footage, I painted my lips green as a mask layer so I was able to change my lip color to something wanted later when I edited my video. However, when I imported my raw footage in After Effect and started to play with my lip colour, I realized the uneven green lipstick makeup had made the editing process very challenged to me. As the texture of my lips made the green paint uneven, the edited video had the same crinkled lip colour result. Therefore, I had to tried several ways to fix it, and I chose the bright neon lip colour as my finishing color in the end. The result turned out not bad, but I had definitely learned from the shooting mistake.
Before and after
I asked one friend of mine to help me in the green room while I was adjusting the placement of the lighting. I borrowed two sets of Kinoflo Divalite 201, two sets of Kinoflo 4 bank green screen light plus two small lighting kits to finally achieve the desired result, no shadow was casted behind me.
